Seeking Applicants for New NJIT/NYU Postdoc Position

We’re thrilled to invite applications for a postdoctoral associate in human-centered machine listening. The position is funded by a National Science Foundation grant on accessible audio captioning of non-speech sounds, a collaboration between New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Sound Interaction and Computing (SInC) Lab and New York University’s Music and Audio Research Lab (MARL). This project aims to develop datasets and models for multimodal representation learning and large audio language models, designed to meet the needs of content creators and viewers of audio captions for online media.

We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated and collaborative, with expertise in audio-language modeling and/or audio representation learning. This individual will be expected to take a leadership role in the project, aiding in the supervision of junior researchers working on machine listening, accessibility, and system development and evaluation. The successful candidate will be affiliated with NJIT’s SInC Lab (Newark, NJ) and hosted by NYU’s MARL (Brooklyn, NY), where the associate will be expected to spend most of their time. This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year, with a starting salary of US$62,232 plus benefits. Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled. We’re targeting a Spring 2026 start date, but we can be somewhat flexible with the timing.
